The ultimate human tragedy,
Our everlasting inability,
To translate, as a whole,
Those virtues that define our greatest trailblazers,
Opting instead,
For Machiavellian smokescreens,
Smoke and mirrors,
Worthy of a magic show in Vegas,
The city of sin,
A fitting tribute don’t you think?
A marvel of excess,
Perilous,
The way we treat our fellows,
Dubious,
The way we laud ourselves,
Praise our so-called success,
So called,
Because of the Pyrrhic nature,
Of our progress,
The gap between rich and poor,
Growing faster than ever before,
Yet we can put a robot on Mars,
Millions behind bars,
And millions more in a socio economic Alcatraz,
Our endless thirst,
For comfort,
Though knowing its cost,
Helps to reveal our lack of cause,
Or principled growth,
Not profit, or principalities,
We need power,
In fact, to empower,
All with in our grasp,
And yet we don’t,
For no good reason,
So its open season,
On the down trodden and the poor –
What is I don’t want to live in a world like this anymore Alex?

I like this. There are a lot of issues you touch on while maintaining the pace and rhythm - well done and keep thinking.
You do have a lot of insight. And great questions.
Comfort can be such a soul-sucker, can't it? Very thought provoking.
