More

What if somehow the Universe changed over night
suddenly causing the only sounds possible to be truth –
How silent would this world be?
TV Silenced,
Politicians Silenced,
Teachers and Professors Silenced –
The sound of that silence hauntingly deafening!

Shattering a consciousness shared for hundreds if not thousands of years.
What if suddenly only thoughts of goodness,
wholesome innocent thoughts were all this world could think?
Our silence would be trampled by the youthful exuberance of laughter
as the ills of centuries past would be corrected in our new reality:
What if we could choose?

Oh yeah we can –
But don’t –
So poets dream and artists create,
workers work and haters hate,
this is the Universe?
We are its highest form?

The Chorus of Angels

To hear your voice is to hear the gates of heaven open and be greeted by an angelic choir – trumpets flailing and strings in full pluck,
all this with a simple declaration from your sweet lips,
pursed ever so delicately as if to invite the kiss,
chic, of our two souls,
engaged in the dance inspired by God’s advance into our lives –
Omnipresent –
Bound by faith,
an abiding belief in what’s more;
All these thoughts from one straightforward yet grand word from your sweet mouth,
no matter what it is, as passion like a lighthouse leading us to port,
directs our lives to the service of passion divine.
To hear your voice,
I know fully, the meaning of life,
love,
goodwill towards all,
caring,
lofty pursuits of something more –
Our love!

The Meaning

What if we go through life and only as our last breath is about to give way do we truly discover the meaning of it all? Would that suppose that the whole of my life was wasted, or without merit, or merely suggest that the pursuit led to the discovery which is by no means – inevitable?

One needs to consider such questions – not as a mere intellectual folly but as a means of determining his or her place in this cosmic adventure.

My purpose, or so I believe, is to write these words, and think these and other thoughts – My life until the end may be insignificant but somehow the endless pages and their realized impact through intended smiles or realities questioned adds to the daily thanks that I give – Life!

A fool am I

I am a fool,
Yet I am not alone,
I bemoan our system,
But lack, at this moment,
The ability to change it,
Yet,
I pursue better,
With a wandering mind,
And a child’s curiosity,
Some might call my energies wasted,
Hence a fool,
But someday, somehow,
All these words will show,
That I’m not a fool,
I just refuse to believe,
That this world can not be a better place,
And it starts with this fool here!

Universal Questions

Ying and Yang of the Universe...
Right –
OR the will of God more likely –
TRUE...
Yet the Universe in all its glory operates in such a way
that one can always take the good, see the bad and still make horrible decisions.
Until you wake up and decide that the Universe must be different,
and ours is,
through the decision to love,
unconditionally,
as we do,
thus,
for us,
the Universe is clear as crystal,
but not a ball
more like what its meant to be…

Street Smarts

Walking home I paid careful attention to the goings on around me. A young girl, maybe 22 or 23, sitting under the blessed gift of God’s great sun wearing jeans, running shoes and a bandana begging for change and without a single seed of judgment I wondered where she’d be laying her head tonight. A little bit away, an Indian man, clearly intoxicated, stumbling his way to wherever it was he was going. At Spadina and Bloor, on one corner was the woman I’d seen every day for many years and I wondered how her daughter is; She must be about twelve now. On the corner opposite was “Hollywood,” still chasing his dream, to sell a pen to whomever is Marilyn or Dean this day. Each of these three people placed a thought in my head and a tear in my heart as I wonder how many people truly see them or merely walk by – Oblivious, kind of how they seem unaware of the war too. So I wonder, is willful ignorance and apathy human nature or is it something we learn?

And now for a word from our...

Saddam –
Dan Rather –
Thank you CBS,
I’m pleading for the truth
and you offer me a prelude to war
brought to me by General Motors..
Saddam come now,
oil, oil, oink, oink,
we all know,
use religion as an excuse,
a prelude to war.
Many years from now,
on a different couch, cigar in hand,
I’ll remember what life was like before the second war in Iraq –
This time the Coalition of one;
THE MIGHTY DOLLAR (GREENBACK, AMERICAN)
the bottom line –
How may will die? –
That day,
cigar in hand,
I guarantee I will know.
Two evils no lesser;
Results different yet same –
Gun to head Choose!
C'est la vie circa today!

Love's Lessons

Many years from today, with perhaps a son, a daughter, or several of both,
I’ll look back at these words hoping.
Hoping that your future is bright, filled with the same promise that mine is.
With your mother, Charmaine, by my side, we’ll explore what it was like for us growing up.
I must also apologize, for I destroyed much of what I wrote between 13 and 20.
I’m sorry, it was rash and foolish decision which I will not repeat.
On this page, I do want you to know –
You can be ANYTHING you want to be.
Embrace the fire inside of you.
Understand your passions and use them as fuel to guide and direct you on your path.
Call us ANYTIME,
wake us up in the middle of the night,
we will ALWAYS be here for you.
Sometimes you’ll resent us for it,
sometimes you may even think you hate us –
Believe me, you don’t!
Our love for you is forged in the love that we share which is absolutely special.
Go to SCHOOL –
make MISTAKES –
Later, you’ll call them EXPERIENCE.

Know this;
The future is YOURS
and we wish you all the joy, happiness and success you so richly deserve.
I love you
I love Char (Mom)
We love you so much,
Always.

Pyrrhic Victory

Politics –
One Pyrrhic victory after another –
who really wins?
We are a society which at its very core, in the innocence of a child in grade 3,
has more knowledge, experience and information than any civilization in our history.
In the past, our structures have lead to a centralized power,
blindly making decisions for those held in dominion.
Currently, we, by the benefit of men and women who died,
have the right to elect our leaders –
Democracy –
Those leaders, a centralized power,
form departments and committees to deal with those issues
that some structure decides are important:
Brute force of will and the collective,
absurd and devastating apathy continues to destroy the fabric of our lives –
Politicians,
what a waste, (for the most part)
the destruction of OUR civilization –
Lost in the halls of power made of marble, granite and limestone
while even in their constituencies people are dying of exposure,
starvation,
malnutrition and
ignorance...
Pyrrhic victory indeed,
at what expense? –
Surely Armageddon of Biblical proportions.

Love's Asylum

Will you?
Lets away from here, but only in our minds,
search within each other to find the answers that we seek;
a vacation of discovery every bit as relaxing and fun as sitting on the beach
soaking up the sun.
Will you?
Lets away from here, using our minds to free us from the confines of the daily grind –
What would we like to learn?
What would we like to find?
SALVATION –

Great news, our faith has already assured that.
SUCCESS –

By our definition its already found.
LOVE –

That blessing has already reached us and truly fortunate we are.
So away from here,
will you? –
Inside our minds seek asylum through discovery,
shared knowledge and experience –
Celebrate,
Fiesta,
for here we are!

Relative

Am I a fiend?
Am I a foe?
Am I a friend?
Am I a man?
Am I a writer?
A lover?
A confidant?
Am I smart?
Stupid?
Somewhere in-between?
Am I good?
Bad?
Happy?
Sad?
Am I here?
Now?
Where else would I be?
Need I be only one thing?
Why are we as a society obsessed with what we are?
Seeking to perfectly define that one characteristic or trait?
Why?
Even more –
How did this come to be?
What am I?
What are you?
What are we all?
Different?
Different! Different?
It’s funny how the meaning changes.
To me anyway –
and that’s kind of the point isn’t it?
Relativity –
Shared?

Thoughts from an Idealist

Democracy;
Capitalisms Hoax
Yet we preach,
extol the virtues of the systems as we’re not to proud to boast.
Achievements sure, many great and wide,
though the sinister truth is something altogether different
that only now is becoming difficult to hide:
Not Cheney, not Powel, Rumsfeld or Bush,
nor Clinton, or Reagan or Nixon could push,
for the very fabric of our daily lives is not decided by these white guys.

The White House,
a symbol of the seat of power
but in order for it to work the products we must devour,
consume, consume, consume,
come on my working friends –
Democracy depends on it,
until its very end –
game.

It’s a run, a fast break –
the winner is the one that’s first out of the gate:
America,
the beautiful and the home of the brave,
with a population silenced by their own ignorance,
consumers,
who don’t even vote –
But stand as an example –
Americans who gloat.

Tragic really that democracy is being brought to its close by the gluttony that is CAPITALISM.

Democracies big hoax.

Fear, Lies & Consumption

Afraid;
Of what fool?
Can’t you even see?
the game that’s being played,
a game from which none of us are free;
Democracy or Fascism,
communism or capitalism…

All SYSTEMS with purpose defined,
either comfort or fear,
the design never quite clear,
so much to understand,
never quite able:

Afraid of what? –

Do you even know?

The duct tape that you buy,
where do you think the money goes?
A dollar here and a dollar there its really all the same –
it all ends up in some pot –

Just like Monopoly,
but none of US get to pass go and collect two hundred dollars –
Do we?

So ask yourself,
where you live;
where you are;
what is your life about –
really…

Ask yourself if its in vain –
search for answers,
they can be found –
but the rules always change…

The game is

Like Holmes would say:
The game is a foot
but unlike Holmes my nemesis is not a man.
It is a way of thought
that has led to the gradual erosion of all that was good in this world –
This way of thought puts shoes ahead of shots,
as in needles,
coats in front of caring
and hearths instead of hearts.
Duped into theories delivered by Puppets of the Masters,
we educated masses allow out strings to be pulled –
Oh this nemesis is much more sinister,
as it operates cloaked in the open,
under the guise of democracy:
How is it Democracy if one man can wage war unopposed for up to 90 days?

How is it Democracy if we don’t get a say?

Elections,
sure we vote but Capitalisms voice is heard louder –
I believe this now,
I’ll believe it when I’m 94 –
Unless we’re empowered to cut the strings to change the direction –
This nemesis will grow –
The game is a foot!

Blackout II

Does the black out of a few days ago teach a valuable lesson to we the energy sluts?
One would hope,
but I fear the stark reality is that like most potential lessons learned in history,
this too will escape us.
So quickly we forget the lessons that seem elementary so quickly we look ahead,
seemingly to help us forget the past.

The Black Out, as it is ubiquitously now called revealed much, yet we see so little.

The Blackout

Darkness descended,
But instead of Gotham,
Toronto, New York, Chicago,
50 million people or more,
showed clearly,
the power of positive energy,
the typical frantic behavior,
of we,
THE ENERGY SLUTS,
Turned to a quiet hush,
Our fragmented communities,
Come together,
In a time of need,
The true human spirit,
One normally suppressed,
By neon lights and subways,
Revealed,
True grace,
This was the eastern seaboard,
On August 14, 2003,
Triumphant.

Capitalisms Orphans

Capitalism is like Darwin’s answer to economics.

Only the strong survive –
Usually by chewing off someone’s head,
only figuratively of course.

Please don’t misconstrue this statement as the ringing of the bell inviting World War III – Nor for that matter as the start of the trading day.
Yet, doesn’t anyone else feel there might be a better way –
Not mired or anchored in some ages old text book ideology.
I think partly people in the industrialized world have adopted capitalism as a de facto part of life –
Which I can assure you is much easier to do while sitting in a subway car coming home from work where we can open our fridge and find abundance –
Run our taps and find abundance, turn on the lights, the heat, the air conditioning and find,
You guessed it –
Abundance!

Did you ever stop to think that perhaps the reason those outside our comfy confines are resistant too or in fact outright despise us and our capitalist ways is because they are treated like capitalisms orphans –
Fully able to see our excesses while they are left off the subway,
have no job, no fridge, no water, no education, no food and no clothing.

Perhaps, if the values that we preach of equality of life and an adequate standard of living were actually practices world wide there would not be such a violent and oppressive resistance to our ways of excess.

Until then I can only imagine and consider capitalism many orphans.

The March...

Do you hear the drum beating loudly on the screen of our TV’s?
Just as they have before, well, sort of, and as they surely will again.
The pervasive beat of one mans cadence, in a two man stand off.
To be sure, more is at stake than just the lives of Bush and Saddam,
they are not facing off in a boxing ring, no matter how much we’d prefer it.

Stand up and be counted, though both sides will discount it –
This beat getting stronger needs the healing power of peace
before this becomes something longer.
Can you hear the beat as sure as that of your heart?
Place your hand there, feel it, I assure you, an Iraqi’s beats the same,
he bleeds too, blood, not oil,
though sometimes our leaders make it seem that way.
Behind the scorching rhetoric of this economic war machine –
How many will die?
How many will die?

The beat goes on, as the expression states,
I can hear it, feel it at the very core of my being,
my retinas permanently damaged by the rape of the planet,
of each and every one of us by mad men –
Smoke billowing into the sky like skid marks, devastating,
carried away to return as God’s tears,
what goes up must and will come down.
Where do we go from here?
Where does this beat take us,
Where will we all be?
Will we again see the night sky lit up? –
Stars drowned out by mans fire flies,
trying to take down the screaming eagles, an ominous sight –
Day at night –
Who really wins?
Who has nothing to lose?
How do you know what to believe when greed so often dictates,
unopposed,
what truth is?

How many times,
how many must we plot this course?
How long before we realize the road less traveled while difficult
has a lot less dead bodies strewn across it.
That road,
a path to peace through dialogue.

CNN (State Department)

I’m scared that if I go for coffee I might miss that gong,
by implication Dan Rather saying that the prospect for peace is dim,
war is on the horizon,
brought to us by Larry King, Live,
just like this war,
live,
as assuredly the ammunition will be –
How many will die?
Iraqi?
American –
Men, plural,
women, plural,
children, plural?
One thing for certain –
ALL DEAD
and for who –
Saddam,
Damn is right for what,
oil and economies of scale.
Sport Utilities, trickle down economics and television,
ah, Ding, Ding, Ding,
N, B, C –
Home of the NBA,
Olympics and
Saturday night!

Babylon Falling

Babylon will fall,
History does not betray this fact,
Fallen once, so it will again,
Not the curse of history or time,
But of our disobedience
Flagrant towards God,
Our own design –
Free will –
The nations of the world and all their constituents will feel the earthquake when it falls again. The effects of which will be felt at the four corners of the earth.
We all, falling victim,
to our own greed,
pride,
envy
and lust,
it seems so easy to reverse our pattern,
yet we don’t.
Modern Babylon,
like histories,
will fall –
DRAMATICALLY!
