Street Smarts

Walking home I paid careful attention to the goings on around me. A young girl, maybe 22 or 23, sitting under the blessed gift of God’s great sun wearing jeans, running shoes and a bandana begging for change and without a single seed of judgment I wondered where she’d be laying her head tonight. A little bit away, an Indian man, clearly intoxicated, stumbling his way to wherever it was he was going. At Spadina and Bloor, on one corner was the woman I’d seen every day for many years and I wondered how her daughter is; She must be about twelve now. On the corner opposite was “Hollywood,” still chasing his dream, to sell a pen to whomever is Marilyn or Dean this day. Each of these three people placed a thought in my head and a tear in my heart as I wonder how many people truly see them or merely walk by – Oblivious, kind of how they seem unaware of the war too. So I wonder, is willful ignorance and apathy human nature or is it something we learn?

Pyrrhic Victory

Politics –
One Pyrrhic victory after another –
who really wins?
We are a society which at its very core, in the innocence of a child in grade 3,
has more knowledge, experience and information than any civilization in our history.
In the past, our structures have lead to a centralized power,
blindly making decisions for those held in dominion.
Currently, we, by the benefit of men and women who died,
have the right to elect our leaders –
Democracy –
Those leaders, a centralized power,
form departments and committees to deal with those issues
that some structure decides are important:
Brute force of will and the collective,
absurd and devastating apathy continues to destroy the fabric of our lives –
Politicians,
what a waste, (for the most part)
the destruction of OUR civilization –
Lost in the halls of power made of marble, granite and limestone
while even in their constituencies people are dying of exposure,
starvation,
malnutrition and
ignorance...
Pyrrhic victory indeed,
at what expense? –
Surely Armageddon of Biblical proportions.

Politics Practiced

We practice the politics of discontent,
Our leaders,
No longer statesman,
In any sense of the word,
Draw power from perceived inadequacies,
Of their design,
Of their competition,
Giving no credit to accomplishment,
And relishing in the failure of others,
These actions by our leaders,
Stunt our democracy,
Taking it from our hands,
The MAJORITY,
And placing it in their own,
The SELECT minority.

These politics are a direct assault,
On you and I,
Though we’ve been duped into believing differently,
These politics,
And their strategists,
Are waging a full out war,
With corporate donors,
And wealthy elites,
Against our sensibilities,
Numbing us to the horrible point,
Of not even voting,
APATHY their best friend,
And voter.

We must reenter our political arena,
Before we’re left as nothing more than spectators,
By men and women no wiser than WE,
THE people!

What do you think?

Is our time really that unique, save our relative access to information and freedoms? In this time of war, one of few in my lifetime, I would like to explore this very thought. With history as our guide it becomes crystal clear that our system has lied, cheated and stole, not just from our wallets; The likes of IBM, JVC and Ford, but no more of this the stories old. Our souls, more important, the swindle is clear, with our votes for puppets with invisible strings the devil offered us masters of industry to champion our cause. I don’t mind being robbed as long as its honest and by thugs down the street, but in Canada its thugs in pressed shirts and ties on the street – Cronies and old boys willing to hide in the shadows while we’re all led to the gallows; Hung, by our own ignorance and apathy.

So is our time, this time, historically unique? What do you think?

With a birdie whispering in my ear as a favour to the devil a clear picture is painted every bit as important as Egyptian hieroglyphs.

A long time ago in a land not so far away men who craved power and lacked principle unlocked a secret before unknown or ignored from which this current history, our history began to unfold; If you’ll sit for a moment the story of our undoing will be told.

In rooms without electricity, carved out of rock men figured subjugation and hatched a sinister plot. By joining forces in dim rooms lit by flame a new game emerged; Risk management its name. To control the hearts of the masses faith became a toy where these arrogant men believed that God could be played a fool. The devil agreed and massaged their pride taught them divine right as the population tried.

So with faith and a leader chosen by divine right the heels of the chosen one clicked in delight. If their hearts could not be won the devil suggested that chains would well do so slavery started and prisons soon grew.

So with might over right the devil and his friends, divine masters of fright our system began almost over night. Religion, man made, leaders so too, lets forward a few years to an idea not new, just practices by devils decree lets all realize an oxford degree, in truth.

So might and religion made quite a team and unspeakable horrors in the name of God became seen. By divine right and the power of the tools of war, education became far more important to score.

Thus by Royal decree and supposed divine right together great minds imposed theoretical slight. Control information and access to it. The devil whispered aloud as this almost blew it. But with his help Oxford got through it.
