Future Concession

I find it troubling that as I write these words
I am curious as to how I might receive them many years from now –
Am I just an ideological kid dreaming of the way the world should be
rather than living the way it is –
This thought worries me;
systems like mind sets come and go –
Is it time for the 2nd fall of Rome;
I am not some nay sayer
nor am I particularly a hawk,
I do not long for war,
nor am I so foolish as to think that in the way this world currently is
sometimes military force is justified,
but in this case,
at this time,
why kill hundreds,
thousands,
tens of thousands or Iraqi’s and Americans
when all the world really needs from Iraq is Saddam's head
and I’m sure most Iraqi’s would be happy to give it;
so Why not give diplomacy a chance
without a gun to innocent Iraqi’s heads
yet a fully loaded one on Saddam's?

Innocence Revealed

I saw wisdom unadulterated today,
in the eyes of a child who couldn’t speak words to me but made me feel volumes,
as many as Churchill wrote and then some.
The child looked right at me,
for a minute or longer and seemed to understand what I was thinking
and with a reaching hand,
smile and eyes wide open told me that everything would be okay.
Better than okay as long as I stayed the course,
learning,
growing,
becoming, being.

So much warmth in that child’s eyes –
so much to say –
Yet very few ways to convey it,
except that the eyes are the window to the soul
and this child’s soul was wisdom –
Pure innocence!

You(My 31)

If only we could see each other from the perspective of the other,
oh that you would see the very picture and personification of love
contained in the view that is your inner shine and your outer radiance.
From within your soul commands the greatest attention as it emanates, fresh:
Imagine the taste of strawberries,
the smell of freshly cut grass,
the look of a French masterpiece
and the feel of love as understood by a child:
This is the impact of your souls amazing shine.
One might think that this is enough to explain
yet this is merely a scratching of the inner surface
while the exterior also delights and intoxicates.
From the tip of your gorgeous toes
to the ends of your magically blonde hair,
a new picture of a package rare emerges.
As Doisneau captured lovers in the city of lights
with the feel of love caught in single images,
yours is much more than a thousand words,
with the richness of chocolate, milky,
the elegance of truffles,
and the rarity of Fugu.
Your beauty is the realization of every artists desire.
Van Gogh had sunflowers and starry nights,
da Vinci his Mona Lisa,
the Group of Seven the gracious Canadian landscape
and Fellini his films,
But I know a joy they never did –
For I know love as truth, innocence, beauty and light –
Charmaine,
a muse like none other and these words are but an attempt to seize the essence
that I am fortunate enough to know –
Love,
perfectly imperfect,
by divine design,
I know you and now my life,
Shines,
As you!

What Would Kids Do?

As many of you know I am an IDEALIST. I don't know exactly where and when that word became a bad thing but I am proud to be an idealist and hope that I maintain until my dying day. I've been thinking for years as to how I could put myself to work for the betterment of the planet. For the past few months I've been working on this idea I call; What Would Kids Do?

As we grow up we lose our innocence and our ability to see the world from a pure point of view. This skews our ability to effect massive and necessary changes to perpetuate not only our species but the planet.

Henri Estienne said in Les Premices in 1594; "Si jeunesse savait, si vieillesse pouvait {If youth but knew, if old age but could}"

Well I think youth does know and I think old age can. And I'm willing to try and I think that all of you are willing to try to. So what am I asking; Please go check out http://whatwouldkidsdo.blogspot.com and check out what it is about. Then please send your friends and family to it to check it out and post. I'm happy to speak with anyone about where I see this going and all the elements I think it entails. This is going to be a lifelong project for me.

On Monday because the school year is almost over I intend to post a summer homework assignment. That gives us three months to pick up some steam on this thing. I appreciate any and all help that you can be. I hope to see or speak with you all soon.
